Monmouth to Brockweir. This is a section of the Wye I've never paddled before so was particularly looking forward to the trip. Due to recent rain, water levels were high which ensured an easier descent to Brockweir. The river at this point is tidal and not being too sure of the get-out and with the full flow we decided it prudent to check it out on the way up to Monmouth. In the event it was quite straight forward and we didn't loose anyone to the rapids which form just below the get-out over a broken weir exposed at low tide. I recommend the Pub at Redbrook where we paused for refreshments and to admire the photographs on the wall which show the river with an additional 10 feet of water in it!
