All paddlers, volunteers, coaches and parents attending PaddleOn! events should show respect and understanding for each other and behave in a way that reflects the principles of the Club. The aim is for all paddlers to improve performance and have fun.


PADDLEON! MEMBERS & THOSE ATTENDING CLUB EVENTS SHOULD -

1) Respect Each other:-·
  • Treat other Club members with respect at all times - on and off the water -
  • Treat other paddlers as you would want to be treated yourself ·
  • Control tempers and avoid behavior which may inconvenience or upset others ·
  • Be on time for training sessions and events or inform your coach if you are going to be late ·
  • Set a good example by applauding good performances of all paddlers
  • Not force any paddler to take part in an activity if they do not wish to do so

2) Keep each other safe:-
  • Co-operate with and listen to your coach or Club officials ·
  • Wear suitable kit for paddling as agreed with your coach. ·
  • Wear a buoyancy aid at all times you are in or on the water ·
  • Get permission from the event organiser before taking zoom photographs or video at PaddleOn! events. ·
  • Obey the laws regarding drugs, including alcohol & smoking ·
  • Follow BCU and Club guidelines and Policies
  • Don't· touch ropes & other pool equipment without the permission and supervision of a Club official ·
  • Don't get onto or into the water before a Club Coach.

3) Take care of club and personal equipment:-
  • Take care of all property belonging to the club or any club member - and be responsible for caring for your own equipment and clothing.

4) Take responsibility for communicating any specific needs to the club:-·
  • All paddlers must take responsibility to inform the leadership team of any medical condition or disability that may affect them whilst taking part in Club events. If any informal training is necessary to meet the members' needs, this should be communicated to the leadership team.
  • If people have specific level of need e.g. asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, written guidance will be required in order that appropriate treatment can be provided by Coaches, etc. If a paddler is not able to self-administer, then medication will be held by an appropriate person.

PADDLEON! Canoe Club will:-
  • Make sure that any club trips taking under 18s in mixed groups has a mixed leadership team. Every effort will be made to ensure any club trips with vulnerable adults will also have a mixed leadership team. ·
  • Ensure that PaddleOn! river trips are staffed by at least one qualified BCU coach and one adult holding Canoe Safety Test, per group of 8 paddlers on the water.
